A bike accident you'd never expect

Simia Pre-Settlement Biking accident

Some people like to bike down mountains, while others enjoy speeding off a ramp and seeing how high they can get. You'd expect those areas are where you're most likely to get hurt (and I'm sure if someone like me was biking down a mountain, that'd be true!) Go figure that it was during a relaxing bike ride in the city that one elderly man suffered an injury so bad it ruined his life.

The man in question was 73 years old at the time, and was heading to a docking station to drop off the bike he'd rented from a Citi Bike in NYC. Citi Bike had set up a concrete barrier near the drop point so that cars wouldn't drive into any of the bikes. Unfortunately, this barrier had the same effect on bikes that it had on cars. The victim couldn't see the barrier until it was too late, and plowed straight into it.

The initial injuries he suffered were bad enough, but what ultimately made him take Citi Bike to court was a permanent condition called "traumatic nerve palsy." It makes all food he eats taste like cardboard, and he's unable to smell anything. It's an absolute shame that such a life-altering event happened during such a routine trip.

For their part, Citi Bike has already made a point of painting the concrete barriers bright orange and surrounding them with cones, but that clearly won't help the victim in question. Since Citi Bike is intertwined with NYC's transportation department, taking them to court is difficult. As always, the best solution was for our victim to utilize Pre-Settlement Funding, so that the lengthy court case ahead of him didn't prolong the money he was due.

If you or someone you know is in a situation like this, don't wait another day. You can submit a quick application right now, give us a call at (866) 587-4320, or send an e-mail to info@simiafunding.com - we want to hear from you, and would be happy to go over the unique details of your case.
